Florida Atlantic University promoted Sexual Assault Awareness Month with their “It’s On Us” campaign from April 4th to April 7th.
Tuesday, April 5th was the Clothesline Project & Rape Culture Project.
Students engaged in a conversation about rape culture, then were invited to paint shirts with inspirational messages to abuse survivors. The event was so successful, the shirts temporarily ran out. The group was quick on their feet and created a large banner for students to paint on until additional shirts arrived. The shirts were displayed in the courtyard hung on a long line. After painting their inspirational message, they were given a shirt promoting consent and the campaign. The shirts will continue to spread awareness throughout the year.
